It is a sparkling wine on the lees, obtained through the ancient practice of refermentation in the bottle. The bottles have a natural deposit of yeasts. That is where the name “Colfondo” derives from.
It all began in the historic Vallotai village, near the Molinetto della Croda when, in the second half of the 19th century, the Lorenzon lineage of winemakers became passionate about the cultivation of vines and the production of wine.
Our grandfather Desiderio Lorenzon, known as “Nino” – third of seven children and heir to this tradition for the land and its fruits – decided to take over the management of an estate of vineyards in the hills of Refrontolo, owned by a Venetian Earl. Over time Nino bought the estate.
That land is today heart of “Tenuta Ninemore” vineyards, passed on from grandfather Nino to our father Guido. Today Guido, with our mother Adelaide, take care of the vineyards with love and devotion. Over time the estate has expanded by investing in other vineyards in the Solighetto hills.
Terroir and raw material are the undisputed masters of our company: a natural treasure that we take care of every day, with passion and devotion.
The company has strong and deep roots in the enchanting Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area, recognized as a World Heritage site. The vines of this area benefit from an ideal mild climate and grow luxuriantly, embraced as they are by the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea.
Our vineyards, over 50 years old, are located in Refrontolo, an area that extends between hills, small valleys and waterways. The specific terroir plays a precious role, the particular clayey and calcareous qualities that distinguish it give our sparkling wine refined qualities and intense and fruity bouquet.
